Graston

Graston also known as IASTM, uses a stainless steel instrument to break down scar tissue in the muscles and increase fascial mobility.

The instruments used in this technique are specifically designed to allow the practitioner to detect and treat areas of dysfunction within soft tissues. When an area of tissue, such as a ligament, muscle or tendon has been subject to injury, the body tries to repair it by laying down scar tissue. Unfortunately, when it does this it lays it in an irregular pattern which limits movement and causes pain. The inflammatory response that is produced when Graston technique is used helps the body absorb the irregular scar tissue and produce new collagen that is correctly laid around the site of injury.
