Chiropractic
Chiropractic is a primary healthcare profession. All chiropractors undertake extensive training over four to five years and are required to be registered with the General Chiropractic Council. They specialise in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders and the effects those disorders can have on the nervous system and the general health and wellbeing of their patients. Although chiropractors are best known for treating back and neck problems, they are also able to treat shoulders, hips, knees and feet. Head over to our ‘Conditions we treat’ to find out more.
Chiropractic uses gentle manipulations and mobilisations to areas of the spine that are lacking mobility. The lack of mobility effects the ligaments and muscles around the joints, causing them to tighten and generate pain. When the motion is restored to the joints that were not moving correctly, the muscles and ligaments relax, and pain levels decrease. Chiropractic is a non-invasive technique so no drugs or surgical interventions are used.
